Couch Potato Pickings – Miss Potter

Miss Potter

BBC 1 tonight at 8pm.

Yes, the name Potter was significant to kids before Harry came along, and I should know – I was brought up on Beatrix Potter’s charming stories. In fact, I still think of Jeremy Fisher when I see a frog, Mr Tod when I spot a fox and, of course, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail and Peter when rabbits come into view. Despite my attachment to these tales, I’ve not yet seen this biopic. It’s one that slipped through the net, as Jeremy Fisher might say, so I’m glad I’ve finally got the opportunity.

And, before I tune into BBC1 tonight to see how Renee Zellweger brings this children’s author to life, I’ll be checking out this slightly out of date but great website which lists Beatrix Potter sites to visit throughout the UK, as well as sites to visit online.
