Beep-beep! Cars seem to be the recurring theme in this week’s news. Morgan Freeman’s car crash in Mississippi has been making headlines since Sunday. The actor, recently seen in The Dark Knight, fell asleep at the wheel, smashing his Nissan Maxima and breaking a couple of bones too. Then he cracked jokes while waiting to be cut out of the mangled car. Tough going for a 71-year-old! But what intrigued the media more was what the married man was doing with his female passenger, 48-year-old Demaris Meyer. Typical of the tabloids to think of the most sleaze-worthy scenario.
But maybe they were right this time because by Wednesday, Freeman’s attorney announced that the star was divorcing Myrna Colley-Lee after 24 years of marriage. They’d kept the separation secret since December last year, which goes to prove that all celebrity divorces aren’t publicised only as a result of snooping journalists. No indeed. There’s a P and an R in there somewhere… It all ended well for Freeman though. He was discharged from hospital yesterday. Don’t be surprised. After all, the man has played God. I’m sure they’ve got some sort of gentlemen’s agreement.
Meanwhile, Star Magazine was spreading rumours about Shia Labeouf having to amputate his pinky finger, following his car crash end of July. The internet went blogorific, but by Wednesday Shia fans could relax knowing their star will keep all ten digits. And he is taking them to rehab to avoid the DUI conviction hanging over him. But this is yet another rumour so we’ll have to wait and see.
Poor Michael Bay. He’ll never finish filming the Transformers sequel at this rate.
Honestly, what’s with these celebs and their driving skills?
At least Eric Bana is playing it safe. He’s gone and made a car documentary about his 25-year love affair with a 1974 Ford Falcon Coupe. Is it just me or does this sounds a bit weird? Oh, it’s part of ‘a meditation on friends and hobbies, and what it means to live life to the fullest’. So the car is just a metaphor? Let’s hope so Mr Bana. One more word about cars and I shall implode with boredom. But if anyone out there has not had enough, I aim to please. The pics were rumoured to have sold for nearly £8 million (no wonder Kerry Katona keeps churning them out). But they’re giving it all to charity. And so they should!
