Happy New Year.
For me, New Year’s Day is the perfect day for being a couch potato since I’ve usually stayed up uncharacteristically late to welcome in the new year. So, this multi-Oscar winning romantic comedy is ideal for a lazy afternoon’s viewing with its anachronistic jokes and playful gender bending plotline.
As the 1999 Oscars rightly acknowledged, Judi Dench (Best Supporting Actress) is fantastic in this film. Her total time on screen may be short, but wow, she has amazing presence as Queen Elizabeth I.
