Snakes on a Plane

Everyone mocked the title of this film when it first started doing the publicity rounds back in 2006, but it’s thanks to its amusingly obvious name that the film slithered its way into cyberspace and became a phenomenon.

And really, what’s wrong with a transparent title? It gives you all you need to know. After all, films like this one don’t need to be suggestive or subtle to pull you in. If you like disaster movies and creature features then you’re hooked already. It doesn’t even need a trailer, but they made one anyway…

Because my partner has a snake phobia and a fear of flying (which has escalated since Thursday) I especially appreciate the clear-cut title of this movie. With films such as Copperhead or Executive Decision we could easily be caught out, but this one displays the warning on the packet so to speak. Needless to say, I’m not going to risk any channel hopping accidents – we’re going out tonight.
