I know Twilight is hardly news to anyone by now, but it’s new to me. I only got around to watching the movie last week after my friend had gone on and on about the books and the movie and then literally forced the DVD in my hand.

Now I can’t stop thinking about Edward and Bella.

So I hereby take back any previous negative comments and wish to apologise to all the fans out there – especially those over the age of 30, and particularly those who are tall.

I knew I was hooked after realising that I had somehow managed to spend several hours on YouTube, pouring over any interviews, movie clips and trailers I could find – particularly those featuring Robert Pattinson. But when I found myself typing Barnes (Rob’s home turf here in London) into Streetmap, I knew I was actually ill.

Forget swine flu. I have been bitten by the Twilight bug. And being Transylvanian I fear I am deteriorating fast as my genes make me predisposed to vampiric eroticism.

Robert Pattinson

But before I succumb entirely to Twilight-Pattinson Disease, I shall try to give you some news and gossip from the wonderful world of movies.

I guess the big one this week was Kelly McGillis stepping out of the closet with the fabulous comment: ‘I am done with the man thing.’

This was of course one of Hollywood’s (many) worst kept secrets, much like Jodi Foster’s sexuality. But then again, why should anyone have to publicly declare that they’re gay? I don’t see any heterosexual movie stars holding press conferences about their sexuality.

Here’s Kelly and Jodi looking great in The Accused:

I have made my dislike of remakes and sequels pretty clear by now. But I must say I was pretty excited to hear that Robert Zemeckis is talking about making a sequel to his 1988 hit Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

Funny, cos I was thinking about this movie just the other day, imagining how much better it would look with the technology available today. Apart from that, I am also a big Jessica Rabbit fan.

You might also know by now that I am crazy about musicals. It’s been a dream come true to see the genre enjoy such a revival in the last few years. But two names I would have never associated with musicals are now rumoured to be making one. Guy Ritchie supposedly wants to direct Jason Statham in a project which Ritchie describes as a cross between Worzel Gummidge and Bullitt. Yes of course the man is making a gangster musical – it’s the only subject he is comfortable with.

But as it was The Sun reporting this, and Ritchie is known for being a bit of a prankster, I have a feeling that this is all a wind-up. Let’s hope so at least, even though a part of me secretly would love to see hottie Jason Statham sing and dance.

I am now going to take myself to a bookshop to purchase the entire Twilight series. Then I am going to go home, quarantine myself for the entire bank holiday and lose myself in Twilight land.
