Couch Potato Pickings | Beverly Hills Cop

Eddie Murphy

There are two reasons I won’t be watching this film tonight:

1.   Eddie Murphy. I’ve never found him funny.

2.   Axel F – the electronic instrumental theme spawned by this film.

Named after Murphy’s character Axel Foley, and written by Harold Faltermeyer, it climbed the charts in 1985, got to Number 2 here in the UK then lay dormant for two decades before finally morphing into that amphibious abomination ‘The Crazy Frog Song‘, aka Axel F: The Crazy Frog Remix, hated by everyone everywhere apart from the under 18s and IT guys.
