Girls don’t want a nice guy. They want a jerk.

Don’t tell me you don’t know where to begin, – we all discuss this theory from time to time, don’t we? Only this week, I was discussing it with relation to someone I know who’s run off with a guy who sounds a bit jerkish. I personally believe that the theory is incorrect, but girls do like an element of uncertainty and mystery initially, as it allows time and space for feelings to develop.
This American Catholic high school movie has a plot based on this jerk theory, but it doesn’t explore it with any depth. To me, it seems to be more focused on parading star Josh Henderson’s musical abilities and co-star Jenna Dewan’s nice legs than anything else. I also found the film’s fast-paced, playfully edited style rather offputting (yeah, I know, that’s probably my age speaking).
For some it may offer much food for thought on the jerk theory, but I lost interest within the first half hour, as it gave me nothing much to ponder on. So, I’m going to stick to discussing the jerk theory with friends.
