After reading this, a new perspective of Gavin Hood surfaced. Regardless of the end result of the film he was able to combine both his visions and ideas for the film as well as the past expectancies for the characters, Wolverine in particular. With a big budget like this one, it is difficult to satisfy the investors, viewers and yourself. He put it together very nicely and did not stray from the original threads of the story.

Hmm, an intriguing debate to be sure from Mr Hood, and I definitely think that comic-book franchises can be surprisingly deep (and I'm not being facetious there folks) having come away from The Watchmen wondering about the whole concept of superpowers and how they could be misused.

The X-Men certainly falls into that category because it addresses all those tough questions about how we view 'difference' in our society... And how we often criminalise non-conformity.... But I have to say I had one major problem with X-Men Wolverine and that was that I found the development of Jackman's character sort of clunky and obvious frankly... And as delicious as Jackman is as an actor, his bad brother played by Lieb Schreiber was more interesting...

Also I can't say my 11-year-old son was all that interested in the character development, he was much more interested in all the claw action.

Interesting to see what Mr Hood was trying to do here, but can't say he pulled it off.

Blue-ray or schmoo-ray, whenever I catch a glimpse of Hugh Jackman in a vest top (or less) I'm going hoo-ray! It could be Betamax all I care. The man is hotter than jalapeno.
