Forgive me, I jest. What I actually meant was: If there’s one person sure to deliver a big-budget, crowd-pleasing, epic action-adventure movie, it’s Jerry Bruckheimer – and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time looks set to be precisely that.

Based on a 2003 video game, produced by Bruckheimer and directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), it tells the story of an adopted prince called Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) to prevent a villainous nobleman (Ben Kingsley) from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. On his quest, Dastan acquires a powerful dagger, which allows him to stop and even turn back time.

Let it be known that Cher once had aspirations to turn back time and she ended up wearing a fishnet body stocking while straddling a gun on a warship. There’s a lesson there for us all.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is released on 28 May 2010.

Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time was released in 1989.

I personally thought this movie was very good, Its easy to consider these kinds of movies will be rubbish as other game to film ideas have been disasters. I gave this a try mainly because of Ben Kingsley. I’m glad I did. The dialogue is fairly flat but the characters are superb the acting is pretty good Ben is outstanding as per usual. And Persia and its surroundings look terrific. It also comes with a good plot! Well worth a watch! 7/10
