The History Boys is a Sheffield-set inspirational teacher movie based on the Alan Bennett play of the same name.
It has a great cast, including Richard Griffiths, Frances de la Tour, James Corden and of course, Dominic Cooper (who stars in Tamara Drewe – out in cinemas today).
Cooper was also in the theatre production of The History Boys, and it was this film adaptation that gave him his first big movie role, although he’s better known for The Duchess and Mamma Mia! obviously.
I really love this film. Its 1980s setting, its excellent performances, its brilliantly clever dialogue, its wit, and some truly moving moments, make it one of the best inspirational teacher movies out there – which makes me wonder why I didn’t include it when I wrote about inspirational teacher movies a while back.
Anyway, check out the trailer here:
The History Boys is showing on BBC2 tonight 10th September at 11.50pm
