Who’s about to crop up in 24: Redemption? What’s secretary Elaine been up to since she ditched her face bra? And whatever happened to that damn irritating dancing baby? Well, in the second of TV Spy’s brand new ‘where the Dickens are..?’ series we probe the current televisual and other careers of the former cast of Ally McBeal…
As we all know Calista Flockhart who played Ally has a major hit on her hands in the shape of Brothers & Sisters, but here’s what the rest of the cast are up to…
Greg Germann who played wattle-obsessed boss Richard Fish has guested in Desperate Housewives, had a recurring role in In Case Of Emergency and has just completed filming a brand new TV show Spectacular!, due to be screened in the US next year.
With her jazz hands, penchant for karaoke and double-chin-banishing face bra, it’s unlikely we’ll ever forget busybody secretary Elaine. Actress Jane Krakowski has been a regular on 30 Rock since 2006 and has also appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She also got to live out Elaine’s showbiz fantasy, starring as Miss Adelaide alongside Ewan McGregor in the recent London production of musical Guys and Dolls.
Peter MacNicol’s been a busy chap since curing himself of his Barry White infatuation and John Cage‘s odd whistle. A regular in 24 season 6, and Numb3rs, he’s soon to be back on our screens reprising his role as Tom Lennox in 24: Redemption.
Another Ally alumnus appearing in 24: Redemption is Gil Bellows who played attorney Billy Thomas, who looks barely recognisable as Frank Tramell, a State Department official who is ordered to subpoena Bauer.
As for Lucy Liu, who starred as Ally’s feisty nemesis Ling Woo, she played Grace Chin in Ugly Betty season 1, and is currently starring in fashion-fest Cashmere Mafia (yet to be picked up in the UK) and will appear in future episodes of Dirty Sexy Money.
Portia de Rossi who played Nell has been an Arrested Development cast member since 2003, and also starred in 9 episodes of Nip/Tuck.
Courtney Thorne-Smith (Georgia) has been playing Cheryl in According To Jim since 2001, resident singer Vonda Shepard released a new album, From The Sun, this year, while Lisa Nicole Carson who starred as Ally’s room-mate Renee has sadly retired from public view having been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
And what of that darn annoying Dancing Baby? Well, he’s still going strong…
