It’s been five long years since Buffy staked her last vamp on TV – but, at last, Sarah Michelle Gellar is gearing up for her return to the small screen. Word reaches TV Spy towers that Sarah is soon to start filming The Wonderful Maladys – a dark comedy drama series for top cable channel HBO.
Focusing on a trio of adult siblings who’ve never fully dealt with being orphaned at a young age, the pilot episode is to be shot early next year and is being fast-tracked by the channel. Sarah’s character is described as having “a kind of zealous immaturity – like a drug addict with a to-do list.” As Buffy was always at its best when the title character was out of control, we reckon this is the perfect vehicle for Miss Gellar’s TV return.
I’ll be glad to see SMG back on telly.
