Don’t chuck away those Chuck 3D glasses… there’s more 3D TV on the way!

Hopefully, by now, you’ll have all got hold of your free Chuck 3D glasses with this week’s copy of TV & Satellite Week in preparation for next Tuesday’s episode on Virgin1.

It turns out, we’re pleased to report, that Chuck isn’t the only programme coming in 3D this year. The TV trade magazine Broadcast today reports that Channel 4 is also planning a week of 3D programmes using the same ColourCode technology as the Chuck episode.

Channel 4′s season, which will be shown this autumn, will include documentaries on the Queen’s Coronation, a Derren Brown magic special, a Greatest Ever 3D Moments clips show and some classic 3D movies converted to the format.

Channel 4 will be distributing the glasses through Sainsbury’s, but hold on to the pair you got with this week’s issue and you can save yourselves the trouble!

Be aware that there is a whole community of 3D photographers. The best form of 3D is full colour 3D but this usually requires some specialized (3D) image capture and (3D) image viewing equipment.

Anybody interested in this should look at the websites of the 3D organisations, if you live in the South of England or the Midlands try The “Stereoscopic Society” (“SS”, see http://www.stereoscopicsociety.org.uk ), if you live in the North-East of England try the Third Dimension Society (“TDS”, see http://www.thirddimensionsociety.org ) or if you live abroad try the International Stereoscopic Union (“ISU”, see http://www.ISI3D.org ).

If you want to see 3D at its best go and see an “IMAX 3D” movie!

Really disappointing for a family of 5 to buy a magazine which only provides one pair of glasses for the whole family to use??? Then to follow the magazine instuction for requesting more glasses to be told not possible as they were never given extras. How could somthing start as such a good idea turn out to be so very dissappointing.

I am so sorry that you feel this way, but, unfortunately, Virgin1 provided us with only a small quantity of spare glasses.

The email address provided in the magazine was for the benefit of readers whose glasses were missing, and these people have been given priority when distributing them.

We also endeavoured to supply at least one pair to people who requested additional pairs on a first-come-first-served basis, which we felt was the fairest approach. However, we have now, unfortunately, exhausted our supplies.

The episode is going to be repeated on Friday 28 August and Monday 31 August, so hopefully there will be other opportunities for the whole family to enjoy it.

I was unable to get glasses too. If the programme is to be repeated are more glasses going to be avaliable, I suggest that there are many people disapointed and if there are not enough glasses put out the surely the point of putting on 3D programmes is made pointless.
