Here’s some further scoop on Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog courtesy of TV Guide’s Matt Roush. Seems that, despite the supervillain musical being every bit as action-packed as you’d expect from Buffy/Angel/Firefly’s Joss Whedon, it also has a heart. Wannabe bad guy Dr Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) is motivated by two things: gaining respect from the Evil League Against Evil, and winning the affections of the beautiful Penny.
Penny (played by Felicia Day, one of the potential slayers in series seven of Buffy) has other ideas though and only has eyes for the spiffingly handsome Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). And eagle-eyed viewers will spot further Buffy alumni as former backstage bigwigs Marti Noxon and David Fury will also be cameoing, just as they did in Once More With Feeling.
Whedon also reveals that although the musical will be avaible free online between 15 and 20 July, a DVD release will follow, complete with a musical commentary to go along with the actual musical. And it seems a sequel is not out of the question. We can barely wait until 15 July for the first part to emerge at Dr Horrible – bring it on!
