What with Joshua Jackson recently landing back on our screens in Fringe, and Ben’s post below about James Van Der Beek landing a new TV role, it got us thinking about whatever happened to the rest of the Dawson’s Creek cast? So, to kick start TV Spy’s brand new ‘Where are they now?’ segment, here’s a quick rundown of what the former Capeside crusaders are currently up to…
Joshua ‘Pacey’ Jackson didn’t really get up to much on TV once Dawson’s ended, spending more time making movies and appearing on stage, but he’s now back on our screens as Peter Bishop in gruesome sciencey mystery Fringe, currently showing on Sky1.
Little Joey Potter’s done well for herself, too. Post-DC, Katie Holmes upped her profile by getting hitched to her former idol Tom Cruise and starring in hit flicks Batman Begins and Thank You For Smoking. She’s currently treading the boards alongside 3rd Rock From The Sun’s John Lithgow in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on Broadway and guests in series two of Eli Stone.
Let’s face it, Dawson was always our least favourite character, but actor James Van Der Beek hasn’t fared too badly since Joey ran off and married Pacey instead of him. Having guested in Criminal Minds, Ugly Betty and How I Met Your Mother, he’s now landed a part in season 6 of One Tree Hill, which – spookily – is filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina on the old Dawson’s Creek set.
Michelle Williams‘ career, meanwhile, has sky-rocketed since her Oscar-nominated performance opposite her tragic former boyfriend Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain. The actress – who played our favourite minx Jen Lindley – has become box-office gold and can next be seen in Incendiary, which opens in the UK on 24 October.
Kerr Smith, whose character Jack McPhee‘s gay kiss in the Creek caused major controversy, has since appeared in pretty much every US drama going. Well, perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but he has been in Miss Match, Charmed, CSI: Miami, The Closer, CSI:NY, E-Ring and Justice and has just filmed scenes for season two of Eli Stone where he has a recurring role.
Meredith Monroe played Dawson’s resident fruit loop Andie McPhee. Now 39 (blimey!), she’s appeared in CSI, House, Cold Case, Criminal Minds and Bones and can next be seen in a couple of episodes of the new series of Californication.
Of the other characters, none of them have fared too badly. Chad Michael Murray, who played Jen’s crush Charlie is still going strong on One Tree Hill, while her young admirer Michael Pitt, who played Henry has carved a name for himself in indie flicks Bully, The Dreamers and Silly Games. Mary-Margaret Humes who starred as Gail Leery has won roles in Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds and Saving Grace, John Wesley Shipp who was Dawson’s Dad Mitch has been in JAG, CSI: NY and more recently The Closer, while last, but absolutely by no means least, Mary Beth Peil, who played lovely cuddly Grams, has appeared in Law & Order and (ahem) saucy indie film Shortbus.
