The 11 best returning US dramas coming soon to a TV near you (5/11) | Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy - it’s back!

When’s it back? Living, Thursday 11 September

As we return to Seattle Grace Hospital, things have changed for our favourite doctors and nurses of Grey’s Anatomy.

Meredith, Cristina, Izzie and Alex are all starting their first years as residents, while poor old George has to join a new crop of interns after failing his exams at the end of the last series. The other notable intern is a certain Lexie Grey (played by the not altogether ugly Chyler Leigh), Meredith’s half-sister, who will no doubt end up in a relationship with Derek before you can say ‘McLoveTriangle’.

There are two notable absentees from the cast: Addison has departed for warmer climes in the spin-off Private Practice (although she does make an appearance later on) and Burke, played by Isaiah Washington, has left the show completely after a much-reported on-set altercation was made public.

For those of you who’ve never seen the show, it really is a fantastic drama, with something for everyone, as these excerpts from American viewers’ reviews of the first episode on TV.com demonstrate… “The medical cases were all great: a man eating surgical instruments, a pregnant women with a lost arm, a wounded deer and a dying father.” “My McDreamy is back and looking better then ever! I love Patrick’s hair a lot this past summer! *sigh* lol.” “This is only like the second episode I watched (including the pilot). I am now watching the rest of Season 4 because this premiere was awesome! I might consider watching Seasons 1-3, but only if my sister buys them.”

If you don’t trust them, watch the season 5 trailer here – *WARNING: MAY CONTAIN GUTS.
