Brand new US drama Kings, starring Ian McShane, Christopher Egan and Sebastian Stan, kicked off two nights ago on NBC in the States.
It’s created by Michael Green, who has written and produced episodes of Heroes (don’t let that put you off… he was involved in the good early episodes), Smallville and Everwood.
As part of our duties here at TV Spy HQ, we’ve watched the two opening episodes. So here’s the skinny.
A young man called David Shepherd living in a remarkably clean and shiny nation called Gilboa signs up for the country’s army. Not long into his service, he saves the life of the king’s son and does battle with a model of a tank named the Goliath. Those of you who went to Sunday School will be spotting the biblical theme by now…
After Shepherd’s heroics in the field of combat, he becomes a reluctant poster boy/pawn for Gilboa, which is ruled by King Silas, played by the magnificent scene-stealing Ian McShane.
Looks like there will be plenty of twists and turns and a whole lot of back stabbing. Just the way we like it!
Some one over here, snap it up NOW, please…
