Lost | Some Comic-Con Chatter

Damon and Carlton Lost Comic-Con

The stars and showrunners of some of our favourite programmes gathered in San Diego last week for Comic-Con, and it was a particular treat to hear (via the gift of YouTube – available here, here, here and finally here) what Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof had to say about the most recent season of Lost and hint at what’s to come next year.

Though we witnessed the apparent deaths of Locke, Jin and Rousseau last season, we’ll be seeing more of them next year – whether that means Jin really did die in the boat explosion or not remains to be seen, though the dead Locke in the coffin was in the future so we’ve plenty of present Locke left to come. And we will find out more about Rousseau’s backstory, though not necessarily via a flashback. Intriguingly, the duo also stated that flashbacks and flashforwards are being taken out of the mix, with a different form of narration being used to reveal what’s happening on and off the island. We can also expect to learn much more about Richard Alpert and Daniel Faraday in season five, and we should discover if Richard has been travelling through time or simply doesn’t age.

Speaking of time-travel, the Comic-Con session featured a new video from the star of many a Dharma initiation movie Marvin Candle – and we finally learned that his real name is Pierre Chang. The video, allegedly obtained by a prospective Dharma Initiative member, reveals that Dharma could predict the future and Pierre foretells the rise of George W Bush and the internet, despite making the video 30 years ago. He also makes reference to sending the video through time… See what you make of it…
