The titles of the first six episodes of the next season of Lost have been revealed, giving us salivating Losties an idea of what’s to come. But what could each ep title be referring to? We thought we’d indulge in some idle speculation…
5.01 Because You Left Surely the ‘you’ of the title refers to Oceanic Six (perhaps specifically Jack?) – so hopefully we won’t have long to wait before discovering quite what terrible things occurred on the island after the O6 departed. And, with any luck, we’ll find out whether the island has indeed been shifted back in time – giving Sawyer, Juliet and co the chance to hang out with the Dharma Dudes – or simply moved to a different location.
5.02 The Lie Which lie in particular, we’ve been told so many? We suspect the lie in question has to be the one told by the Oceanic Six – why did they concoct that strange story of only eight passengers surviving? Is their story about to fall apart? Intriguingly, it’s rumoured Ana Lucia will be popping up in this story…
5.03 Jughead Where to start with such an odd title – it sounds like one of Hurley’s imaginary friends? A quick Google gleams that Jughead is either a food-loving comic character (so could it refer to Hurley?) or some sort of internet search engine (perhaps Dharma-esque technology?) The comic version is apparently always on the run – so perhaps a Desmond and Penny fleeing Ben story is in order?
5.04 The Little Prince This has to be about Claire’s son Aaron doesn’t it? Kate’s convoluted tale of giving birth to him on the island won’t hold up and the little blighter’s bound to be a bit confused. Although Claire’s not going to be around much this season, we reckon the odd guest spot will shake things up no end. Other rumours about this episode suggest this is where Jin’s fate will be revealed – perhaps his against-all-odds survival will make him a prince amongst the Others?
5.05 The Place of Death Uh-oh, death is never far away in Lost – but does this title mean someone else is going to die? There is speculation that one of the Oceanic Six is going to die this season, but we’ve nothing to back that up. Perhaps this has something to do with Jin’s fate (though only a fool would kill off Jin). Then again, this could be the episode where we learn if Penny and Desmond were the bodies found in a cave in the first season – the island being their place of death? The only other thing we know about this episode is that part of it will be set in Tunisia – so Ben, Sayid or Charlotte could be involved.
5.06 The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham At last, this has to be the episode we’ve been waiting for. Bentham was Locke’s cover when he left the island to find the O6 and we’ve got a plethora of questions about that. Why did he leave the island? How did he leave the island? Why was he tracking down the Oceanic Six? Why was he using a false name? How did he die? Will any of these questions be answered so soon into the season?
