The 11 best returning US dramas coming soon to a TV near you (1/11) | Prison Break

Prison Break series 4 - It’s Back!

It’s the beginning of September, the days are starting to get shorter and, finally, after a long and not very hot summer of wall-to-wall sport and second-rate filler series, the new autumn TV season is about to begin. Woo-hoo!

Next week we’ll be bringing you the pick of the brand new American series coming to our screens over the next few weeks, but first, beginning today, we’re going to be bringing you the latest on the eleven best returning US dramas, starting with those good ol’ Prison Break boys, who are back on Sky1 tomorrow night, Tuesday 2 September…

Sad to say, after a disappointing second series and a downright plain awful third, it’s make-or-break time for Prison Break. While the first series promised so much, everything since has paled in comparison.

Against our better judgment, though, we’ve stuck with it and, more out of hope than expectation, are keeping our fingers crossed that the fourth series will be the one that sees it return to its impressive early form.

The new series begins with back-to-back episodes which see the action shift from Panama to Los Angeles, where we find Michael and Lincoln on the run and out to wreak their revenge on The Company, the shadowy organisation which set up Linc, kidnapped his son and decapitated Sara Tancredi. Or rather, should that be decapitated somebody who looked remarkably like Sara Tancredi? For in one of the most audacious and credibility-stretching plot twists ever, the show’s producers have decided to bring her back from the dead.

Whether this proves to be a masterstroke or the final nail in the coffin remains to be seen, but taking the action out of the confines of a prison and allowing Michael more scope to show off his ingenuity and cunning seems like a shrewd move.

Here, to get you in the mood, are few trailers for the first two episodes from America…

Hi Sylvia, I’m assuming you’re talking about the non-Sky world of telly. Bad news I’m afraid – Sky own the rights to PB and don’t seem set on sharing it with anyone soon. Your best bet is that it may show up on Sky3 eventually, which you can get with a Freeview box… But you might just want to put the DVDs on your Christmas wish list!
