After taking a long, protracted summer break for Big Brother, our favourite downtrodden editorial assistant is back – and not before time!
The second series of Ugly Betty resumes this Friday with an episode called Zero Worship, in which Betty gives Justin’s class a tour of Mode and is saddened to discover that the only thing teenagers are interested in is thinness. Remembering her own body-conscious teen years as the ‘girl in the oversized T-shirt at the pool party’, Betty works on Daniel to champion healthy-sized models in an alternative show during Fashion Week.
It’s an absolute corker of an episode. Highlights include rapper Bow Wow chatting up Betty in the lift – ‘I like ‘em freaky like you, girl,’ he tells her – Betty strutting her stuff on the catwalk (go girl!), and wicked Wilhelmina looking for a surrogate mother for her Meade heir… Betty, you’re safe, but watch out, Christina – she’s heading your way!
