The opener picks up moments after the big cliff-hanger from season 14 in which a Mob laywer-carrying ambulance exploded in the vicinity of the ER, with several key medics nearby. We won’t give away which of the characters is headed for that big sick-people-free zone in the sky, but make sure you’ve got a few hankies to hand…

NEW SERIES Season four of Earl sees the well-doer focusing firmly on his list again (thank goodness!) and the recipient of this week’s compensation is none other than Seth ‘check out my official fansite’ Green – is there any show the lad won’t guest star in? Grey’s Anatomy, Entourage, Heroes – he’s really doing the rounds. Earl robbed a younger Seth of his Make-a-Wish pony, so Seth gets his help to make a movie called 2 The Max. You can figure the rest out yourself.

SERIES FINALE The new series starts in two weeks’ time – that would be an all-time record for tiny gaps between runs if Lipstick hadn’t pipped it at the post with zero weeks… Anyway, there’s plenty of drama when a teenager is admitted encased in cement which is slowly poisoning him and squishing him as it sets. Out of scrubs, Callie sums up the courage to smooch Erica, Ava shows her true colours and Meredith finds an unusual use for candles.

NEW SERIES The Walkers are back for a third series, and a weekend break at a stunning beach house (courtesy of Kevin’s boss, guest star Mitch Pileggi) turns into the usual round of disclosures, diatribes and dirty looks. The cat’s out of the bag about William’s real illegitimate child, Justin and Rebecca’s relationship, and the tough cuts being made at Ojai foods by tough guy Tommy.
