Pick of the Day | Wednesday 21 January

GOSSIP GIRL

9pm, Gossip Girl, ITV2
NEW SERIES Wednesday has been winning ‘duffest day of the week’ for quite some time now, but things are looking up with the return of the entertainingly obnoxious teens from Manhattan.  Series two kicks off in the Hamptons, as Serena and Nate fake a fling to stop people twigging that Nate’s really having an affair with a married woman while Serena’s getting over her thing with Dan. Real love is more likely to blossom for Blair, who has a new squeeze called James, and Jenny is enjoying higher social circles courtesy of her position interning for Eleanor’s company.

9pm, 90210, E4
NEW It’s not the new series just yet, but a little preview doc to get your tastebuds tickled. The modern-day 90210 cast members will be talking about what to expect from the remake, and some of the original stars will reminisce about what made their 1980s exploits so addictive to so many. The new series starts next Monday on E4 – good to see they didn’t schedule it directly up against Gossip Girl. If you can’t wait till then, you can see the first episode early via Channel 4′s On Demand service. And if any bigshot producers are watching, can you remake this one next please…

10pm, Sex and the City, Paramount

The only problem with her new beau? The real reason he was waiting to see the shrink as well…
